Senior guys

What fun it is to get to photograph these senior guys!
It's always great to get to take pictures of the beautiful girls but sometimes it is a real hoot to get to spend time with a fun guy who is excited about life and having a great senior year.
This post is about Matt - who is into everything and having a blast during this exciting part of life. He was very active in football, baseball and the country western dance team and who knows what else.

He has a quick smile and doesn't mind his sister and his mom fussing with his hair for pictures. He has lots of patience with photographers (me) and does everything they ask including jumping into a bed of weeds for a great picture.

We got an early start to beat the heat and spend a few hours trying some new places around Dallas for pictures. Matt and his mom didn't mind trying some new ideas and locations. I loved what we ended up with.

I have waited terribly late to put up this post and I have forgotten where Matt is off to next year - but where ever he goes he will be surrounded by new friends because of his easy personality and humble ways.

Matt, I hope you have the most wonderful time next year! You are a special young man, the kind we need more of these days. I know you are ready for whatever comes your way and that you will make the most of your life. Enjoy!

Keeping up with these seniors!!

Wow! Senior Portrait season is in full swing and I really need to stay on top of things so you can meet some of these great kids. They never cease to amaze me with their busy lives and huge accomplishments.
One sweet girl that I got to shoot on an awesomely beautiful day in January is Rachel. She is a beauty who is a busy girl at school this year. She is the captain of the dance/drill team and a member of the boot-scootin' Ramblers, a country/western dance group.

In the middle of a brutal Dallas winter, we happened upon a sunny, warm day at the end of January to get some great pictures. Rachel was easy to work with and flashed that great smile all afternoon!

We even got some "artsy" dance pictures of her that turned out beautifully!

I'm sure there is much more to Rachel than her obvious work ethic and talent in dance, I wish we had had more time to spend together. I know her precious mom is a beautiful person as well who, along with Rachel's dad, has raised 3 hard working, high achieving children. And they're,each one, beautiful on the inside and out.
Rachel, thank you for allowing me to spend the afternoon with you and your mom taking some fun pictures of you. You were a trooper and it was time well spent because I love what we came away with. Hope you hold on to all the memories that you are making right now. Enjoy these last months in high school! Can't wait to see you in Spring Show!!!

I've got a few new Seniors to share about on here! So happy to be around some of the sweetest people and get to know them. Sometimes our sessions are a time for me to get to know the sweet kids of friends of mine. I've seen them grow up but never had the chance to know them personally. I love getting to see who they have become.
Casey is a great example. I've known his mom and dad for years but haven't had many opportunities to get to know Casey. I'm glad I got to share the afternoon with them and get a little glimpse into his life.

Casey apparently plays, and is good at, just about every sport there is. I know his letter jacket had plenty on it. Though I couldn't get him to expound much on his athletic skills (he's quite humble about it) I know he's been very busy with sports all through high school. He's got awesome fiery red hair and a great smile. He's easy going and fun. He's a real sweet heart! (Hope I'm not embarrassing him)

Thank you, Casey, for sharing a fun afternoon. I know you have an exciting future ahead of you and I can't wait to see where it takes you. Good luck and enjoy every minute!

Seniors coming and going!

Love, love, love shooting Senior guys! They are so easygoing and fun. I especially love when I get to spend time with their parents for the afternoon, too!
A few weeks ago I got to shoot a handsome football player who is on his way to play for his college team. Tyler is a great big boy who was raised by some really fun people that I know and adore. We visited a golf course where he plays golf and then headed downtown for some urban shots. I thought he looked just as great in a football jersey as he did in a suit and tie.

I can't believe this guy is headed off to school. It's so good to know that such quality kids are heading out to take their place in the world.
Tyler, you make it easy to see your generation of kids as the responsible, fun loving and ambitious group that they are. Good luck in all you do this next year and beyond.

I know your parents are so proud of you! Thank you for letting me spend the afternoon with you and your mom. I had a great time!

And just as some seniors are leaving - there are more coming up to fill their places. This is their big year!
I got to shoot another great guy named Raegan who's family I also know and love. He's a tall handsome football player also. I had heard he was really likable and easygoing and he certainly was. His family and ours go way back but I had not had the opportunity to get to know Raegan as I had his older brother. He got to see more of me than he bargained for with our shoot being cut short by rain. We did part of it one day and part of it on another day. But we got it done. His easy smile made for some great pictures. But you know that I love the serious ones as well so....

Oh my gosh! He is adorable! Uh hmm...I mean handsome.
I love his mom and was so happy to get to spend a few hours with her as well. We went to the football stadium, downtown and to a field I love to go to. Raegan was a real trooper with us women directing and making him change clothes so often.
The last ones were actually taken on the grounds of the high school he attends. That was nostalgic and fun for me since our kids went there as well.

Raegan, I appreciate, so much, you hanging in there with me as we finished out the shoot over a couple of days. You never complained and just kept on looking great! I have loved watching from the sidelines (literally) as you've grown from the little elementery school kid into a wonderful young man. I hope you enjoy this year as a captain of the football team and in everything else you do as a senior. Enjoy every minute!

Heather

Here's another senior girl to introduce you to. She was really a delight to work with. Her name is Heather and she is the captain of the high school dance team that I love to keep up with.

She's got a quiet sophistication about her with just enough "girliness" thrown in to keep things fun.
We had a great day to shoot. Spring was not too far away and some pretty colors were starting to come out. And getting Heather to look good was...well, I guess she pretty much looks good all the time. I just got to catch it on my camera.

Before the shoot, Heather had told me about her mom's struggle with breast cancer and how she wanted to honor her by featuring a special necklace given to her and her sister by their grandmother. I loved getting to help her mark this time in her life that will forever be remembered as the beginning of a new level of love and commitment in the life of her family. She wore the necklace beautifully!

My prayers and love go out to your family, Heather. Thank you for letting me be a part of this special time in your life. Congratulations on all you have accomplished and all that you will become in the next exciting years!

That great smile!

Doesn't she just have the most inviting smile? It's contagious!
Aimee and I spent several hours out in the cold a few weeks ago. But we came away with some of the greatest shots! I was really thankful to have such a gracious subject that could withstand the temperature and still look like she was having a great time.

I am so honored to be able to take pictures of these great kids. They are so busy. I love to get to spend a few hours with them and get to know them a little bit.
We have known Aimee's family for many years now. She has two really fun brother's. In fact, you can find one (Nich) on this blog just a few pages back. They are all such wonderful people and I was so pleased to get to talk with Aimee about the rest of her year and her future plans.
She is a dancer in the local high school drill team and needed the shots for an upcoming show. I think we got some great ones!

Good luck in the Spring Show, Aimee! You are a beautiful girl with a sweet spirit about you. I love your family and appreciate their support of my work.
Enjoy these last few months as a high school senior. I'm excited for you as you look forward to your next few years in college.
